Study Visa Services

The opportunity to study in Canada comes with, many more future pathways that can help an individual build a new life in the country. If you are thinking of doing so, now would be the best time as the changes in immigration policies have further streamlined the process, ensuring that you receive a quality education.

Through this, you would also be able to apply for a Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP), which is the only way you can individually get an open work authorization. Canada has Designated Learning Institutions (DLIs), which provide a range of two semester courses to complete degrees for international students. Their education aims to integrate and prepare their students to be professionals in their respective fields.

To be eligible for a study visa you must meet some requirements, and those are:

  • Enroll in a Designated Learning Institution.
  • Prove you have enough money to pay for your tuition fees, living expenses for yourself and any family members who come with you to Canada and return transportation for yourself and any family members who come with you to Canada.
  • Have no criminal record, be in good health and get a medical exam (as required)
  • Prove to an officer that you will leave Canada when your study permit expires.

For select countries, Canada has the Student Direct Stream (SDS) program, which allows for faster processing for the study permit applications. To be eligible for the Student Direct Stream the applicants must live in one of the following countries:

  • Antigua and Barbuda
  • Brazil
  • China
  • Colombia
  • Costa Rica
  • India
  • Morocco
  • Pakistan
  • Peru
  • Philippines
  • Senegal
  • Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
  • Trinidad and Tobago
  • Vietnam

It is to be noted that for courses that require a stay longer than 6 months, you will need a study permit and that not all the courses provided by the DLIs make you eligible for a PGWP. Therefore, when choosing to be a student in Canada, you will have to make sure that the institute you are enrolling in and the program you are choosing are both capable of making you eligible for a PGWP in the future.
